“I am the proprietor of the Penguin Cafe. I will tell you things at random…” said Simon Jeffes in 1970. Since that day, until his death decades later, Jeffes and his musical entourage produced nude penguo-human afro-commune art and the unique sounds to match, casting themselves Out of the mainstream. This, appropriately shot them back In as their music became a staple to many producers of film, television and other media.
In 2010, Arthur Jeffes, Simon’s son, continued, at random, the journey his father started with his benevolent band in the magical Penguin Cafe. Likely the most exciting about the new Penguin Cafe is their significant normalized album art and their interesting website design.
Some of the music is really nice… particularly Cutting Branches for a Temporary Shelter. Not at all like the Accumulators. Their version of Walk Don’t Run is definitely the outlier.
I really enjoyed this album. And the leggy penguin is pretty hot….is that weird to say??? hahahahaha.
